Facebook is on the verge of launching their much anticipated music platform at the f8 developer’s conference in San Francisco on the 22nd of September.
Amongst presentations, breakout sessions, discussions and the end of the night party, Facebook are to announce the official Facebook iPad app, the new HTML5 mobile gaming platform, and this year’s hot topic: the new music platform.
The idea is a user friendly interface where millions of Facebook fans can stream and share music, as well as see that their friends have been listening to. This will add yet another new and exciting service to the social media giant’s portfolio.
This will launch will be in partnership with Spotify, MOG and Rdio, who will likely see a huge increase in users in the months to come.
This could potentially be another blow to Myspace, who have decided to concentrate their efforts on promoting their music services; as Facebook will once again be in a position to reinforce their dominance on the social media scene.
There is much speculation as to what functionalities this new music application will have, and how the music industry will respond to this latest development.
